For a long time is has been my dream to shoot family photos in Rocky Mountain National Park. This past weekend that dream finally came true. This session took place at a photography workshop with K Marielle Photography. It was styled and led by Kristen. We spent one of the most magical afternoons together chatting about photography, location scouting and shooting this perfect session. It seriously felt like a dream.
Learning from the Best
This year I have really invested in my business with in person learning and I’ve loved every second of it. While I’ve learned so much over the years through online education, it just doesn’t compare to learning and shooting along side another talented photographer. I can’t wait to see how I continue to grow as a photographer this year. There is so much I have learned and want to implement into my own work from how I run my sessions, to styling my families and everything in between.
Beautiful Golden Light
The weather was perfect this evening! I was really hoping for a sunny evening and Colorado delivered. Kristin uses light in such a magical way and I really wanted see and learn how she does it. We were able to do just that and so much more. I absolutely love golden, backlit, and sun-soaked images so I was thrilled to have full sun this evening without a cloud in the sky.
Styling Family Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park
Everything about this session was absolutely magical! I am obsessed with the styling of this session. Kristin is so talented at styling her families and I love the way this came together. I am finding more and more that I love photographing warm tones like rust, camel, mustard, brick red and cream. It complimented the landscape perfectly! Rocky Mountain National Park is a dream location for a photo session. It seriously does not get more magical than this. I would love to return next summer and offer a few sessions for family photos in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Emotion and Connection: Capturing your love
Another thing I was really hoping to learn at this workshop was how K Marielle Photography captures such beautiful and natural connection in her images. She captures what feels like real and raw moments which is exactly what I am after. Watching how she interacts with her clients, how she poses and directs them was an amazing experience. I learned so many tips, tricks and prompts that I can’t wait to start utilizing in my own sessions. Nothing compares to learning in person like this. It was the absolute best experience.
2022 Adventure Sessions: Family Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park
Next year I plan to offer adventure sessions at a few of my favorite spots in Colorado, one of them being Rocky Mountain National Park. If you would like to have family photos taken at a super epic location in Colorado next year, contact me and lets chat. I won’t have dates for these until late fall/ winter but I will be starting to plan my travel for next year soon.
