A few months ago I shared that Twin Lakes is one of my favorite places in Colorado for family photos. Well I am back today to share another favorite location for your Colorado family adventure photos. Last summer we visited the Dillon Reservoir and camped at one of the campgrounds right next to the reservoir. It was one of our favorite trips last year. We loved that there was so much to do there. Located just steps from some of the campsites was a nice sandy beach and my kids loved digging in the sand. There was a trail that connected to the campground and we loved that we could go for a family bike ride without having to drive anywhere. The views from the campground were stunning. These photos were taken just steps from our campsite.
July is wildflower season in Colorado and I was thrilled to see so many beautiful wildflowers.
Because this location is so close to the water there were tons of mosquitos out around sunset. So I definitely recommend remembering bug spray. We forgot and were running back to our campsite after the sun set.
If you’ve been following me for awhile you’ll know that I love locations that offer two different backdrops because of the variety it adds to a galley. At this location there is the grassy spot over looking the reservoir that has beautiful mountain views. Then we can walk down to water and capture a slightly different landscape. There are so many fun natural elements at this location as well, like fallen trees and big rocks to climb.
