Garden of the Gods Family Photos (Iconic Red Rock Views)
Garden of the Gods is easily the most well-known photo location in Colorado Springs—and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The towering red rock formations paired with views of Pikes Peak create a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop.
Sunset is when this location really shines. As the light drops, the red rocks glow with warm tones while the mountains soften in the background. That said, these locations do require a short walk. The trails can be uphill and a bit rocky in places. While the hike is manageable for most families, it’s important to come prepared with comfortable shoes and a willingness for a little adventure. The views at the top are always worth it.
Blodgett Open Space
Blodgett Open Space is one of my favorite mountain-view locations in Colorado Springs. It offers a perfect mix of wide open views and more intimate, tree-lined areas.

North Cheyenne Canon
North Cheyenne Canon is ideal for families who want a more playful and adventurous session. This location has an open meadow surrounded by mountains, which creates space for kids to run, explore, and just be themselves.
As a result, sessions here tend to feel very candid and movement-focused. It’s perfect if you love natural interactions, laughter, and storytelling images rather than posed portraits.
Cheyenne Mountain State Park
Cheyenne Mountain State Park is a great option if you’re looking for beautiful views without a lot of walking. The mountain backdrop is stunning, and many areas are easily accessible.
Because of this, it’s a great fit for families with young kids, grandparents, or anyone who prefers an easy access location. You still get gorgeous Colorado scenery, but with a much easier experience.
Palmer Park
Palmer Park is one of my personal favorite locations. It offers wide, open views of Pikes Peak from a distance, along with unique rock formations and natural textures.
This rocky location feels a little more quiet and less crowded, which makes it perfect for families who want a peaceful setting. The white rocks also gives your photos a light, airy feel.
