Last week we had a rare spring like day here in Colorado Springs. Which meant, it was a perfect day to go location scouting with my kids. We decided to check out a new spot for photos at Garden of the Gods. This location is beautiful and a new favorite at Garden of the Gods. It has stunning red rock views and great mountain views as well. I love the versatility that those two looks will add to a session.

Lets talk about sibling photos! To be honest, a few years ago I dreaded sibling photos at my sessions. At the time I had a 3 year old and a new baby and I just felt like sibling photos especially with toddlers were so hard. Now a couple years later on the other hand, I am completely obsessed with siblings photos! They really are some of my favorites from every session. I love how these sibling photos at Garden of the Gods turned out.

I’ve learned a few tricks over the years but most importantly its all about being lighting fast with toddlers. I have a few prompts I like to use to bring out those sweet little sibling bonds. Also playing and having fun is key to bringing out those naturally connections. Letting go of perfection and allowing kids be themselves is so important too. In case you are thinking that it is easier with my own kids that couldn’t be further from the truth. Photographer kids are so over photographed that it is even more difficult to get cooperation. They know when mom says just one more, it really means like at least ten more.

As one person commented on my Instagram, Dad photos need to be shared more often! So here are a few of my favorites of those from this location scouting session at Garden of the Gods.
