If you notice a shift in the forecast, go ahead and reach out right away. I keep an eye on the weather throughout the day, but I always want to hear your concerns too.

How I Decide Whether We Should Reschedule or Keep Your Session
When weather changes on your session day, I look at a few key things before making a recommendation.
First, I check how widespread the weather is. In the summer, quick afternoon storms are very common in Colorado Springs. Sometimes they pass through quickly and leave us with clear skies and beautiful light.
However, if the forecast shows consistent rain or stronger storms, we’ll take that more seriously.
Your preference matters too. If golden light and clear skies are really important to you, rescheduling may be the best option. On the other hand, if you prefer to stick with your original plan, we can often make that work unless conditions become unsafe.
When We’ll Go Ahead with Your Session Anyway
There are many situations where we can still move forward, even if the forecast looks uncertain.
If the weather appears scattered or temporary, we’ll often keep your session time. Colorado weather can change quickly, and it’s not uncommon for storms to clear just in time for beautiful evening light.
We may also move forward if:
- The forecast improves closer to your session time
- You prefer to keep your original date
- You’re traveling from out of town
In these cases, I may suggest small adjustments, like shifting the start time or choosing a slightly different location.
When It’s Better to Reschedule
Sometimes, rescheduling is the best choice.
If the forecast shows steady rain, severe storms, or conditions that would affect your experience, we’ll go ahead and move your session. This is especially true if another day that week looks much better.
My goal is always to give you the best possible experience and photos. If waiting a day or two will make a big difference, it’s usually worth it.

By limiting the number of sessions I take on, I’m able to offer reschedule options when needed. This gives us a better chance of finding a new date that works for everyone.
It also means I’m not overbooked, which allows me to stay flexible when weather shifts unexpectedly.
