When booking your Colorado Springs outdoor photography session, one of the biggest decisions is deciding which session length to book. Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this.
Should you go for a full adventure session, a short session, or an everyday mini session? Each option has its benefits, depending on your family’s needs, personality, and budget. You can view pricing info and details about each package here! All sessions include all the best images from your session, with no additional costs.
Let’s break it down so you can find the perfect fit for your session!
Full Adventure Session (45 Minutes)

A full adventure session is the best choice if:
- You haven’t had professional photos taken in a while.
- Your kids take time to warm up.
- You want a relaxed experience with a variety of shots.
- You are traveling to Colorado Springs and want a memorable session.
- You have a larger family (five or more people).
- You want to two different outfits in your photos

This 45-minute session allows plenty of time for kids to get comfortable. Some children need a little longer to warm up, and that’s okay! With a full session, we don’t have to rush. We can capture natural moments, movement, and a mix of candid and posed shots. This is also the best choice if you want to explore a beautiful location, get different backdrops, and let your kids just be themselves.
If it’s been years since your last family photos, or you’re visiting Colorado Springs for the first time, the full adventure session ensures you leave with a stunning, well-rounded gallery.
The full session is a great option for maternity and couples photos as well. There is plenty of time to do an outfit change if you want. It allows plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the process.

Short Session (20 Minutes)

A short session is a great choice if:
- Your kids tend to lose interest quickly.
- You get family photos taken often.
- You want a budget-friendly option.
- You have a smaller family (around three people).

Many parents worry about their kids staying engaged, and honestly, very often the first twenty minutes of a session are the best! Short sessions are perfect for capturing those golden moments before little ones start getting restless. If you take family photos every year, a 20-minute session is ideal to update your gallery wall without committing to a long shoot.
This session length still provides a variety of images, but it’s more efficient. We get a lot of great images in just a few short minutes. It’s also a great budget-friendly option while still delivering a beautiful selection of photos.
Everyday Mini Session (10 Minutes)

A mini session is perfect for:
- Families who just need a few great shots.
- Parents who want quick, stress-free photos.
- Families with very young kids who won’t last long.

Mini sessions are short and sweet! If you just need a handful of amazing images for holiday cards or a quick update, this is a fantastic option. They work best for families who already know what to expect and are comfortable in front of the camera. Since these sessions are only 10 minutes, they move fast, so they aren’t ideal for shy kids who take a while to warm up. However, for families and couples who show up ready to go for their session, it’s really amazing how big of a gallery we can get in just 10 minutes. I delivered over 60 photos for this family, not every session turns out that way but it is possible. You can learn even more about my every day mini sessions here.

The Best Experience No Matter the Session Length

Family photography is about more than just pictures—it’s about capturing connections through heartfelt images. The experience is just as important as the final gallery. I want every session to feel relaxed, fun, and stress-free, so you can be yourself in front of the camera. Whether it’s a playful moment with your kids, a quiet embrace, or joyful laughter, I strive to capture your family in a way that feels natural and true to you.
No matter which session length you choose, I bring the same heart, creativity, and dedication to each and every session.
